Summer Nights

Good afternoon!

Wow what an absolutely gorgeous week we are having here in England! Hopefully much more of it to come. I've been to three BBQ's over the weekend, although, still on my weight lost venture, I didn't over indulge, I was a good girl ha.

I've been spending a lot of time working on my business, I helped out at an Armed Forces Day in my local village, it was really a delight raising money for such a worthy cause. The weather stayed good and we managed to raise over £1300 with donations still coming in. An amazing amount and a brilliant effort by everyone involved. It also gave me an insight of what I could do with my business, stalls, craft fairs etc. I'm really looking forward to the future.

I am attending a couple of events over the coming weeks just for another insight of what I am hoping that my business will progress to.

I have been making the most of this weather also, I'm not one for hot weather, but I've been really enjoying it, I've even got a tan!

The past couple of days I have really cracked on with my garden, I'm absolutely loving it at the minute, the way everything is just set out, I think that once you've added a couple of things it sets the whole garden off. Beautiful. Also a nice surprise for my lovely Mum :).

summer, summer garden

We are going to extend our little allotment, and maybe add a path down from the patio to the greenhouse. All in a days work eh.

I've got a few reviews to do, so I am looking forward to doing those.

Also it's sales galore weekend! So I think I shall be doing a little bit of shopping, although nothing has caught my eye yet in the online previews!

My Youtube is playing up, it's so slow, are they updating it? Has anyone else got the same problem?

A Summers Day

Hi Everyone :)

We've been blessed here in England with a gorgeous, sunny bank holiday weekend, and although we're expecting a few rain showers the next couple of days, I'm hoping that the sunshine is a sign to come.

I spent most of my bank holiday in the garden, clearing up the plant borders and planting seeds in my greenhouse. My Mum and I have also dug out a vegetable patch this year with hope of growing our own veggies!

We have currently sown peas, beetroot, cabbages and potatoes, and have grown seedlings of onions and kidney beans which will be transported outside within the next couple of weeks. Every year we grow tomatoes in our greenhouse, so I'm hoping for a bumper crop this year. I just love home grown greenhouse tomatoes, so much tastier than shop bought ones.

We have four fruit trees in our garden, apple, cherry, pear and plum, which are now filling out with blossom. We've had our plum tree for a number of years and it always provides us with a good crop of plums, however with the late snow last year it wasn't able to be pollinated by bees so it didn't grow any fruit. I hope we've seen the last of the snow and frost! Our apple, cherry and pear trees are new additions to our garden, but so far they are looking promising.

Although we have a fairly large garden, we have only three raised beds/borders of flowers. I love Spring/early Summer, just as everything is starting to come back to life in the garden, all the bright colours are developing from the dark and dismal winter months. It really makes me feel happier.

At the minute I don't feel as though the bottom of the garden ties in with the top, I'm looking for a way to tie them together but I'm not yet sure what that is. Maybe adding some stepping stones would help? I like the way that they look, they kind of bring something extra to the garden. I also think the gnomes in the above picture could do with a bit of a paint job, maybe they'd set the garden off.

In this border we have settled on blue, yellow and white flowers, I think that the contrast each other beautifully and brighten up the bottom of the garden.

I don't know if it is just in Derbyshire, but the amount of dandelions and daisies this year is crazy! Where have all them come from. Of course my dog, Gracey had to get in on the action, she's such a little poser!

What have you been up to this Bank Holiday?

Snow Week

snow derbyshire

Hello girls :)

You may have noticed a few changes happening around here the past couple of days. I have a new blog design and layout! I got bored of my old one and decided that I would have a go at making my own header.

What do you think of it?

I'm quite impressed with it, for a first go anyway. I might ditch the whole black and white swirly bit at the top though, not sure. It matches my self made business cards :). I used to make headers on Bebo 'back in the day' haha, so used some knowledge off of that.

Does anyone still use Bebo?

I had a look a my old account on there, seriously really don't know what went through my head with the stuff I have on there. Safe to say, cringe worthy of the highest order!

I've also added two new pages on here, 'About Me' and 'Dislaimer & PR', check them out if you wish :), just something a bit extra to get to know the girl behind this blog :).

We had our first lot of snow on Thursday. I don't mind snow, but the ice that comes afterwards really terrifies me! I went to Tesco's Thursday tea-time with my Mum, and oh my gosh you would think it was Christmas all over again, there was literally NOTHING left on the shelves at all. People had gone absolutely mad panic buying. Mum taught me to knit Thursday night, well attempted to. I can honestly say that we have never laughed so much in all our lives!

I stayed in Friday, I blitzed the house (not quite managed to clean my room as of yet, something to do tomorrow), and caught up on the ironing, boring! I went out into the garden and took some pictures, one good thing about the snow and frost is that everything seems to look a whole lot prettier! (You can see them throughout this post). My dog, Gracey, loves the snow, I'm sure it sends her hyper. She loves running around in it and burying her head in it, and not to mention eating it! I then snuggled up on the sofa in my pjs and watched DVD's all night.

Saturday, was football day! None better than Derby County versus our local rivals Nottingham Forest. It was actually touch and go whether the match would actually be on because of the snow, but thankfully the staff cleared and gritted around the stadium all through the night, so the match was most certainly on! Having a 1pm kickoff, there wasn't much time to spare, I was absolutely buzzing. Nothing gives you a buzz like a local Derby day, and you could certainly tell around Derby who we were up against. Everyone was feeling the same excitement and anxiousness. It ended in a 1-1 draw, which to be honest I thought was fair. Derby,  in my eyes were poor, and if it had been against any other team we would of been 6-0 down. There didn't seem to be any fire in the bellies of the players, which is what the Derbies are all about, who's going to come out top dog.

Sunday, it started snowing again, I didn't really do much in all honesty, well nothing interesting that I can recall.

Today, Monday, it snowed heavily throughout the night so we were left to wake up to a rather increased blanket of the white stuff. The roads around hadn't been gritted, so looked like another day stuck in being bored. The snows really starting to get on my nerves now, or more the fact that I am terrified of the ice. And my gosh it has become icy around here!

Anyway I'm off to watch corro! How evil is that Kirstie? I hope everyone finds out what she's really like!

What have you been up to? Have you been hit with the snow where you are?
